I Think we should have more time
between classes. You give us 5 mins to get ready for are next class we need to
get are books and use the bathroom and you give us 5 mins.
Everyday people get tardy's for
going as fast as we can. Many other classes let us out late so we don't always
get are time that we are promised. I think it should not matter how late we are
as long as we get are work done if we don't that's are fault. We go as fast as
we can but some things take longer then we given lets say we are let out of
class 1 min late then that gives us one min late then we have to put are books
away then get are homework out and are books for that class then we also may
have to use the bathroom. Even if the class before did not let us out late we
still have only five mins to do all that stuff. I really think we need more
time between so we can get all are stuff done so we are on time[B1] [B2] [B3] .

Dear Mrs. Chinn,
Hello, my name is Kylee H and I have
a problem with my school BCS.
Sometimes kids at my school get
dress-coded for no reason at all. In the spring and summertime girls wear
shorts and tank tops and most of the time they get dress-coded even when
they're following the guidelines. One time somebody I know got dress-coded by a
teacher for wearing a tank top that was three fingers thick and if girls wear
spaghetti straps they get dress-coded but if they wear a three finger thick
tank top they are fine. She got dress-coded for "showing her
shoulders" and had to wear borrowed clothes.(March 17, 2014)
Dress coding someone should not be
ok if it is not needed but if its needed like when you can see underwear you
can do it but it does not have a purpose don't do it. It would make kids much
more happy because they would not have to worry about getting in trouble
everyday for wearing what they wear.
People wear what they wear to express themselves like jean shorts they are happy they could be short but it expresses their feelings and it makes them happy. As long as they are not short shorts I am ok withany type of summer wear. If the shorts are as short as your underwear that is not ok[B3] .
Sincerely,
Kylee H

[B3]So,
you basically agree with the existing rule, right? The problem was that a
teacher coded a girl who had a tank top that wasn’t a spaghetti strap tank top,
right? What are you proposing that is different?

Hi, my name is Leo. My family went on a reunion at your All Inclusive Holiday Inn Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica. We didn't have the best of times. Your staff gave my cousins room away. Then later her card didn't work. When one person isn't happy no one is, you know. We had a very stressful time.
You see her husband was giving her son a bath. He heard the door open and heard some voices. It wasn't his wife's voice. It was a group of teenage voices. He walked out and kicked them out. He didn't think anything of it until later. His wife tried to go back in the room and her card wouldn't work. She decided to try her husband's and that didn't work either[B4] .
It didn't just happen to her. I had seen many other families going up to the desk about that same problem. All of them said that they won't come back. Also there was a smoker in the building. I was walking out to the beach when I smelled something. At first I thought the building was on fire. Then I saw him. Standing out on the balcony just smoking there[B5] .
All I want is for your staff to keep track of those things. I would like them to know who is in and out of rooms so they won't give other people's rooms away. Also I would like for your staff to actually enforce the rules. I see your staff out there but they aren't enforcing them. This could be a big problem[B6] [B7] .

Dear BCS Office, my name is Cory and I am a 6th grade student in Mrs Roberts’ class at BCS. And I have an important topic, of hairdryers, I would like to speak to tell you about.
When people get out of a wet area such as, the shower, or a swimming pool, your hair is wet. Well at BCS we are lucky enough to have a swimming pool to use during certain PE times, but hairdryers are ample. The girl’s locker room has hairdryers for the girls to use when they get out of the pool. That is because the staff at Covington apparently thinks that girls are the only ones that need hair dryers. Girls may normally have longer hair than boys but boys still want hair dryers. I know that my friends & I have at least once gotten sick and cold from going outside after swimming because of poor or no towel drying. That is why we need hair dryers.
Near the end of November during Thanksgiving/Black Friday time, my classmates and I had swim class in PE. We had a water basketball game with my friends and we had a lot of fun. But when we got out, Mr Johansson our teacher had us grab some stuff left in the pool. We went back in and grabbed it and jumped out. Than I got dressed and towel dried my hair and left the area. My hair was still pretty wet because of the lack of hair dryers. During lunch I started sneezing massively. After lunch I went to the office and called my mom. She picked me up and I had to stay home for two days. A cold because of wet hair. Lack of hairdryers in the boys locker room.
A German scientist discovered during World War I that soldiers who slept in cold, wet trenches were four times more likely to get colds than those who rested in dry barracks. In 1871 French chemist Louis Pasteur, exposed chickens to anthrax and then dipped their feet in icy water to see how it might affect their odds of catching the disease. The chickens developed anthrax and died. When he repeated the experiment but wrapped the exposed chickens in a warm blanket, they survived[B1] [B2] .
I don't see why this is a problem. The school has enough money to buy everybody iPads and Surfaces, and they can’t just buy 2 or 3 hairdryers? Also if our hair is wet and we don't properly dry it we can get a lot of other things wet. Just because girls have longer hair doesn't mean boys are bald. And it’s not just me. Other boys in the school want hair dryers. Some of them even have longer hair than me. That is why I dislike the fact that the school has no mens hairdryers in the locker rooms. So in conclusion all I want is 2 or 3 hair dryers for the boys locker room.

Rd Bloomfield Hill’s MI 48301 Dear BCS office, I am a student in Mr. Joseph’s
class. I would like either an extension in lunch time or to get meal’s ready
faster. I think we need a longer lunchtime. Because kids who have a co
curricular after lunch and need to buy lunch have no time to eat and go outside
to play. Most kids bring lunch but some kids lockers are far away so by the
time they get back there is limited time to eat their lunch and go outside or
just eat and not go out to play. Also kids that buy lunch have to wait in long
line to eat and they have a limited amount of time to eat. Kids need time to
eat and play because when they go outside they get a fun experience than
staying in and eating. Plus when kids can't eat they complain to their teachers
and the teachers don't want to deal with that. I want kids to be healthy and
athletic. I also don’t want kids to be hungry later on in the day because they
can’t focus in class. Kids sometimes complain about how as soon as they get out
of the lunch line it's about time to go outside. Sometimes in lunch is really
short and by the time they can’t go outside because once a game start’s then
nobody can join for the rest of recess and we can’t go back to the lunchroom
and eat. Also when my friends do this they feel terrible later on in the day. I
propose that we have the food in the lunch line put on tray’s so all we have to
do is pick it up and just pay eat and go outside. I know you do it in the pizza
line but not in the healthy line. I hope you can help me with the situation if
it cannot it is okay. Thank[B2] [B3]

Dear Mrs. Chinn,
I think that BCS should have a football team for 6th 7th and 8th graders. The school has sponsored it but there weren't enough proud dads and a teacher suspended it. The kids would have a great time. Also the kids would have more friends because they would bond. They did not try hard enough to get enough proud dads. Every middle school should have a football team. It would be awesome to compete against other schools in Colorado. It would be just like high school football. We could have cheerleaders, a band play for us, and even announcers. Having a football team is just like having a basketball or volleyball team. It would be so much fun[B2] !

When
most middle school students enter their new building, they do not do so alone,
but instead join with other pupils on a team. The process of teaming middle
school students is a useful one that serves many purposes, leading many schools
to adopt the practice as a way to help their students[B3] .
Physical activity is the most obvious benefit of sports participation. Children often spend too much time watching television or playing video games. But sports practices and games provide an opportunity for exercise that can help keep kids in shape and healthy. That's why BCS should have a football team.
There used to be one but it got suspended. It is a law that girls and boys must have the same amount of sports. I think that we should try again because the kids would be happier. If you do it, Covington would be more popular and people would get to the NFL and be from Covington. Also that the other schools would make fun of us. One solution you could do is that you can try again. What I think you should do, is try to get a football team. Have help this time[B4] .

Dear Mrs. Chinn,
Football has many educational benefits! According to Coach Bodle, “Football can raise building spirit and promote positive character.” Team sports help build team work, provide motivation to work hard in the classroom and help others. I feel at Birmingham Covington School we lack these skills and motivation and a football team would help bring back Covington’s good character. I and others have wanted a football team for a long time. I went around my school and asked my fellow 6th grade students if they would like a football team and the majority of them said yes.
We would like to have a football team. We have never had a football team at this school. All the other middle schools in our district have a team. It seems discriminatory to the students at BCS not to be given this opportunity. The boys are also discriminated against because they do not have as many sports, as the girls do, that they can play on. The sports that the boys can play on are swimming, track and field, cross country, soccer, and basketball. The sports that the girls can play are all of the ones already mentioned plus one additional, volleyball. As stated in the Education Amendment of 1972, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance” (Justice.gov).
One way of solving the problem is having our own 7th and 8th grade team. Having our own team will solve the problem because we would have a team for us to play on. To have our own team we would have to find coaches. Coach Bodle has said “the number of kids that you need is over 22 that is the least number of kids that we can have”. Because this may be hard to accomplish, one other way that we can solve the problem is to see if we could play on the Derby or Berkshire middle school team. Having a football team will be fun and it also help kids in the classroom I would love it if we could talk farther so that we can be happy to[B1] .

Dear Birmingham Covington School,

Helen D, student
The girls locker rooms are terrible
quality and standard for the expected level that BCS offers. That makes it
difficult and unsafe in the locker rooms.
Girls in the locker rooms can slip
and fall due to the poor upkeep. In January 2014, a girl in my swim class fell
and hit her head extremely hard. She had a concussion scare, and this has
happened many times before to my friends and myself[B5] . Also, as of writing this letter, a dryer in the
locker room has a open buttons and the spring and heat is out in the open,
which could injure someone terribly.
If this continues, people could get
seriously injured, as they/I have before. It's not safe, and it could strongly
negatively affect someone.
As a solution, we should get new,
improved dryers. We should also put a safety waterproof mat to cover the floor
so less people fall and hurt themselves. We could also improve the shower
heads and shower area, as it is unsafe and bad quality.
If we change these problems, not
only would it be safer, but more people would come to BCS for the pool and
locker rooms.
Overall, the girls locker rooms at
Covington should be improved.

Helen D

Choice hours take up time that I could be doing something else.
I could be finishing homework, or
playing sports. Choice hour is not educational nor fun.
This is a big problem because I have
bible school an I have to do choice hour this makes me late. This in packs my
life everyday. I think there are many people that have this problem I think it
needs to be fixed! I sit around all day and then that the end I have to do it
again for An hour[B3] .
This is a big problem because choice hour makes me late for bible school on every Monday. This also takes up time that I could be doing homework or playing outside to be active. This also gets me behind in school with homework. It's not just me I have talk to my friends too[B4] .

Dear Mr. Morawski,
Hi, my name is Ryan H. and I am in 6th grade in Mr. Joseph's class. I am contacting you to ask you to put recycle bins in the lunch room. This problem was caused because you took away the recycle bins. This means that most students and some staff will not recycle because of this.
BCS took away their recycle bins and now, most people are throwing things away that could be recycled. I understand that you probably took them away because people were throwing trash in them, but you could have some kind of assembly where you tell people to not throw trash in them.
This problem occurs to me every school day and it started about a year ago. I have to recycle my yogurt cup at my house. It is kind of a pain, and most people do not do what I do. Schools across the USA probably have the same problem.I think that our school could be a model to other schools. Since school waste is up to 80% recyclable, schools make a huge impact when they recycle. Recycling is also cheaper than trash disposal, so it helps save the environment AND your budget! (lessismore.org) We may be doing something good to the rest of the USA. Plus, we are supposed to be a green school right?
I think that the solution to this problem is first, you put out some recycle bins right next to the trash cans. Next, you should have a recycle dumpster as well as a garbage one. Finally, you should have an assembly about it and establish some consequences if they throw trash in the recycle bins or if they throw recycles in the trash.
Please consider putting recycle bins in the lunch room. If we do, we will set an example and make the world a better place.
Thank You,
