(3) Types of social scientists: Archaeologists (study artifacts of past civilizations such as weapons & tools), Geographers (study environment of past civilizations- natural & man-made- such as roads & bridges), Historians (study artifacts & documents of past civilizations such as letters & diaries).

Key Characteristics / Differences of Neolithic and Paleolithic life: Hunted vs. Farmed (main advantages were ability to remain in same place & less dangerous to farm vs. hunt) / Traded vs. No Trading (main advantage was no need to have to obtain or make everything needed yourself- could get it from others by exchanging one item for another).
3. Main problems faced by Sumerians: Attack (built walls & moats for protection) Lack of water (built levees, dams, and canals to control water during flooding or drought).
4. (7) Characteristics of a Civilization: Stable Food Supply; Highly developed Social Structure, Government, Religion, and Way of Life (includes forms of art such as music); Advances in Technology; Written Language.
5. Sumerians had all the above characteristics of a civilization- their artifacts prove it! (artifacts include stone tablets with writing carved into it, musical instruments, religious temples- Ziggurats, wagons. . .)
Number 3 should include lack of water AND FOOD (due to drought or flooding)!
