Chapter 7 Colonies Test - Joseph Homeroom
1. It is 1740 and you have to leave England. Imagine that you had a
choice between any of the 13 colonies to live. Where would you live and
why? Answer in at least four complete sentences. The first sentence
tells me the colony. The second, third, and fourth sentences tell me
your reasons why.

1. I would choose New York. One reason is because it was the most democratic place in the New World. Another reason is that it had great geography. My last reason is that slavery was not allowed.
ReplyDelete2. I would make a company for games. One reason is because it started to devolve. Another reason is that it was cards and stuff like that and is easy to make. The last reason is that I could start to make video games when time passes.
3. Because slaves were at plantations, and they would have. My first reason is that Jamestown gave the idea of cash crops. The second reason is that they were democratic, so they couldn't get African Americans and treat then like dirt. The final reason is that they needed more time to care and tender for them.
1. I would choose to live in Georgia. If my family was poor, we wouldn't have to go to jail. We could have large plantations. Also I could serve my country valiantly when we fight Spain to keep our land. Also its nice and hot with very short winters.
ReplyDelete2. The job I would choose is fishing in Rhode island. I personally like fishing. Also its a big part of the new england economic structure. I could catch for myself to eat if I won't catch enough to sell. It would be a good job.
R3. There weren't plantations in the north because the soil was rocky. They didn't have good soil in the north. If they could grow cash crops they probably would. It would help their economy and would probably have the best economy when you add fishing and mining.
1. I would live in new york. I would not live in the south because I think slaves are cruel. I have always liked new york because the city is well developed and has a great opportunity's. I also like how new york will grow to be a great city.
ReplyDelete2. I would be in new york. I would be a innkeeper because in old times innkeepers are mid-wealthy. Inn keepers are also good for the lazy people who don't want to work because all you do is sit behind the desk and keep people entertained. You also see travelers come by and you hear lots of story's and is the first to find out about new colony's.
3. There were no plantations in the north because the soil was rocky. If the soil and weather was good then there would be plantations because it would be exactly the south. They would have plantations because plantations are great to earn money. They would also use plantations so they would not depend on the south for rice and indigo.
1.I would live in masschutes because thaey have great land they have nice people has acces to the ocean and would be easy to work in cause of jobs

3.of course they would they need money and people need food and there was no people who would say no to food of they had the money so mabey they could sell it then it would be more money for everyone

1. Out of the 13 colonies of 1740 I would move to rode island. I would move there because they had religious freedom and a lot of jobs to choose from. And so that means I can believe in what ever I want to and work were ever I want to. And the rode island I a great colony for my freedom.
ReplyDelete2. And I think I would like a job as a farmer out there. I would be that because the grow a lot of the crops and I could sell them for profit like fruits and veggies. And I would think they would make a lot of money because people need to eat and drink and I would provide. And I would enjoy the fresh air and grass.
3. If they were able to grow crops in the north I think they would. I think that because that is a good way to make money up there. Also I think that because they had okay weather up there and could maybe some things. And at is what would happen if they were allowed

In 1740 I would have lived in Pennslivania because the Quakers had no need to fight people. Some reasons are the Quakers where a non violent group so there where no wars. They made peace with the Indians because they argued to not fight them and it still hasn't. Plus they didn't need anyone to bother them because they were free.
ReplyDeleteOne colony I would like to live in is Georgia and a job I would have is a plantation farmer because I like to work on a farm and make stuff by myself. Also I think that being a farmer will get work down by Americans not some where else. Plus I don't get slaves because of the colony's laws. Plus a slave would cost money and I would need a lot of money for a slave.
Plantation weren't used in north because the soil was bad. If people had used plantation in the north it would have failed so no. I would have failed because the soil was rocky and bad. Plus they didn't us slaves up there so the plant would died.
1)I would pick a job in Rhode Island. Being a farmer is much more safer than a miners job. I would also like to be a farmer because I could spend my day outside in the warmth. Also I would be able to give food to my clony and help it out.

3)There weren't plantations in the north because it was too cold in the north to be able to grow plants. The crops wouldn't be able to grow. It would be a good easy job that could earn them money if they could grow plants. They could sell the crops and food at the market and make easy money. It's just too cold for the plants and crops to grow.

ReplyDelete1. I would choose New York. I would choose this colony because it has many jobs in the city of New York. It also is free of mosquitoes because of the winter. It also has mining opportunities so I could also mine and get much money from that.
2. I choose New York because it has many jobs in the busy city. I would probably become a printer so that I could get lots of money. I would probably start out as an apprentice to a master printer and train with him. Then I could either keep working for him until he dies and then take over his business for him or I could take a risk and start my own business.
3.There were not plantations in the north because they had harsh winters and rocky soil. I think that if they were able to grow cash crops in the north they would have because they would get more money from the cash crops and I think that most people wanted to get money. I also think this because if there was warm weather in the north than they would plant them because once the word got around that this was a cool thing to do, they would want to have more and more of the thing so that they could all have the product. Finally, I think that they would have plantations because they would want to take the chance while they had it and they would just do it because it would gain them money and then they might even be able to get a bunch of money from Britain until they got less and less money.
I would choose to live in Massachusetts Bay. I would choose to live their because one of the jobs there is fishing. I like to fish because it is relaxing. Also, I would live in Massachusetts Bay because they have snow in the winter. I like the snow because it is fun to throw snowballs, build snowmen, etc.

3. They don't have slaves in the north because they can't have plantations. The rocky soil is not suited for farming. The plants will freeze in the winter. If they could grow cash crops they would hire slaves to work for them because they need help tending the cash crops.

2. I would be a politician because I would have a say in voting. I also might have a chance to be a government leader. Most People wouldn't be able To vote but I would.
3. There was no plantation in the north because it was to cold. The plants would not even sprout to become real plants. They would be just seeds. If they were able to grow them then it would be able to make easy money. This would make it a better place for everybody. They could grow and have local markets.
1.I would live in Pennsylvania. I would go there because Pennsylvania has good minerals. Pennsylvania is a good colony to live because it has good soil. Good soil is needed so that the farmers can grow crops(food)

Farmers could have greater jobs, people could have better food, everyone would be glad! The farmers could sell it to the people too.

ReplyDelete1. If I could pick any of the colony's to live in it would be Maryland. I would live in Maryland because it has freedom of religion. It also is more freely governed then other colony's. Plus, I would want to be able to practice my own religion.
2. In Maryland I would be a priest for the Catholic Church. I would be priest because then I would be able to help people believe in there faith more. Also because people would recognize me as high and mighty. Plus, with so many people coming to Maryland to seek religious freedom the church would be packed.
3. There were not plantations in the north because it had to be hot year round and it was not. I think people would not have plantations in the north even if they had a chance. I don't think so because since they were against slavery, and they would have to get slaves to do the work. Plus, at some points it was to cold.

1. The colony I would live in would be Georgia because there are a lot of Quakers there. The Quakers beliefs are that there should always be peace and no wars or fighting. Obviously they did not believe in slavery so that would be a great place for me to stay. Georgia was founded to be a home for former slaves.
ReplyDelete2. The colony I would choose is Georgia. I would be a Blacksmith. A Blacksmith is someone who repairers or makes weapons and things out of iron. Doing this job would allow me to make my own things.
3. There were not plantations in the north because it was to cold and to many mountains. If they could grow cash crops they would not because you never know when the cold is going to strike you. Then all the crops would mess up. Also they would not want to be in the cold planting crops.
