    2. My prediction is that since he got over it, he will not really care if people look at him weird.

  2. I think that Auggie laughs because he see's a funny face when the guy says "WHOA!" It is proved when"'That guy made the funniest face!' said Jack" Instead of feeling bad he laughs because it was funny. I think it will change the plot because Auggie will use his face to be funny. Then more people will be like "WHOA!"

  3. I think when he laughed he resolved a conflict. That conflict is him being scared. When he laughed he showed he didn't care if people were surprised.
He even made a joke about his face. That proves that he is not scared and shy anymore

    1. The joke he made was "Hello. This is after plastic surgery".
He said that after Jack said "You should get plastic surgery"

  4. Auggie starts laughing because of what the eighth grader looked like. He thought it was because if he looked different and everyone looks normal. He would be scared and "he almost peed his pants". he thought that it would be a different reaction and felt surprised that this person gave this reaction. so that is why they were laughing. : )

  5. He laughed when that Kid bumped into him because. He thought it was funny because he said WOAH and he never that reaction. He thought it was a huge 8th grader who was zooming down the stairs and knocked me down two steps at a time when he was helping up he said WOAH. He thought that guy made the funniest face. For some reason they were cracking up.

  8. Auggie laughs at it because she thinks it is funny because he has friends now. This will effect the plot because Auggie has friends so he might laugh at more things like that. 'I hung out with Jack in homeroom, English, history, computer, music, and science, which were all the classes we had together.' 'I walked to classes with Jack too. I know he noticed the other kids staring at me, but he pretended not to notice.'

    1. Having friends will enable Auggie to laugh about stuff like when the 8th grader knocked him over because there will be someone that he can laugh with and will feel more comfortable around. Also Jack is a friends and friends should laugh with each other.

  9. Auggie was laughing because he saw the look on the eight grader's face. If Auggie laughed in school, then the look on the eight grader's face must have been funny. Another reason that Auggie laughed is because he got used to people looking at him. "We were laughing so hard that the teacher, Mr. Roche, had to ask us to settle down." I think Auggie's reaction will change to book by Auggie being more comfortable at school.

  10. The 8th grader made a weird face and Auggie laughed at it but other people laugh at Auggies face because they think his face is weird so people laugh at thing that they think is weird or not normal.

  13. Augie is used to people meeting him for the first time and saying "whoa". And the 8th grader had a funny face."'That guy made the funniest face!' said Jack". I think it will change the plot because Augie will use his face to be funny. Then more people will be like "WHOA!" I think more people will say Whoa and he laughs at that now, He is used to it and when people fist meet him they will say whoa with a funny face.

  14. When August and Jack were walking a 8th grader just came running down the stairs recklessly and bumped into August. Probably August got hurt a bit but then the 8th grader looked at his face and went "WHOA!" and that face pretty much payed it off. From that point August got really excited for school. Jack and August planned to squirt slug slime and dog pee at other peoples faces. His life just got a whole step better.

  17. Auggie laughs when the 8th grader bumps in to him becouse of the face the 8th grader made. The 8th grader made a really funny and suprised face that made August and jack will laugh all through history class. That moment will change the conflict of the book becouse now jack and August are better friends.Jack and August were having so much fun that they were making jokes of the big 8th grader who bumped in to him they were saying " I think he wet his pants". He also said lots of other stuff. This moment is definitely from others
becouse it is making August and Jack better friends. It is like the other moments is that someone noticed August face.

  18. I think Auggie started laughing because that "WHOA!" face was super funny. I can tell he wasn't laughing because Auggie and Jack were laughing very hard. Auggie is more confident about school now. He won't really care if people gossip about his face because of that moment.

  19. When people stare at Auggie he should spray dog pee and slime at them. That will be their punishment. :)

  20. August started laughing because he saw the 8th graders face. It says in the book that "auggie and jack stared laughing after." This might change the plot because he realized that his face is sometimes funny

  21. He laughed because Auggie is starting to not think about his face so much and have fun, and having a friend like jack is giving him a higher self-of-steam I know this because they say in the book "That guy made the funniest face!" and "I know, right?" "He was like, whoa!" because he doesn't care as much

ANSWER: I think Auggie was laughing because That kid went Whoa! I think this because in the text it says. "I I know, right?'' "he was all like, whoa!" I think that this will change the story a lot. Auggie Finally Laughed at his face! Instead of being scared, he does not care as much.

  23. August and Jack may have started laughing because they realize that auggie should not worry about it anymore and in the book it says 'I am used to people staring' and I think that is why they laughed about it. They also said ' Did you see his face' Witch also made them laugh.

  24. I think August burst into laughter because he doesn't care anymore about what people think about his face so he won't be laughed at he will laugh with them. Now that Jack Will is a friend with him he doesn't feel alone without friends so I think August feels like he has a friend that isn't forced and Jack Will likes him because of who he is on the inside, not the outside. 'He just said: "Whoa!" then he patted me on the shoulder, like he was dusting me off, and took off after his friends. For some reason, me and Jack started cracking up.' so that quote makes me think August feels like he's not alone and he can laugh about his face, not be laughed at and miserable.

  25. August started laughing because he saw the eigth graders reaction after he said whoa. Accordig to R.J Polocco tje reaction was really finny. It says in the book " for some reason, me and Jack started cracking up." It also says " 'that guy made the funniest face!'" And the book says on the next page the kept talking about it in the next class.

  26. Auggie starts laughing after an 8th grader knocked him down because... 1. The face he made was funny 2. He was like "Whoa! 3. Jack thought he wet his pants 4. he brushed him on the shoulder like he was dusting him off. Proof: ' For some reason, me and Jack started cracking up. "That guy made the funniest face!" said Jack as we sat down at our desk. "I know right! He was like, whoa!" "I swear, I think he wet his pants!" We were laughing so hard that the teacher, Mr. Roche, had to ask us to settle down.' The way this might change the plot is that when Auggie realizes that he has two friends that like him because of who he is, not because somebody told him to, he'll start relaxing about his face and not worry about it so much.

  28. Auggie and Jack started laughing because of the reaction on his face and the way he said, "Whoa!". I think that Auggie is going to like school because he has friends like Jack and Summer. I can relate to Auggie because this is my first year at Covington and I had no idea where to go so Jaylen helped me find most of the places on my first day since we had the same scheldule.

  29. August and Jack were laughing because when the 8th grader ran into him he kinda freaked out, and was like
    “Whoa!”
And they thought that he might have wet his pants, plus he made a really funny face .

I predict at the end of the book everyone will be used to his messed up face and he won't really care anymore.

In the book it says after about a month about everyone in his school was used to seeing his messed up face. I think it was around page 62?

  30. August laughed at the guys face because he made a funny face when he said, "Woah!" Jack said, "That guy made the funniest face!" I think that will change the plot because August is getting more comfortable about how his face looks. He laughed lke it wasn't a big deal that the guy had that reaction when he saw his face was messed up. I think that soon, August won't care wht other people think about him.

  31. Auggie normally gets made fun of but know science someone made an even more weird face he thinks it's funny! In the book Auggie and Jack say '" That guy made the funniest face!" said Jack as we sat down at our desks. " I know right?" I said.

  32. I think auggie started laughing beacause the 8th grader bumped in to auggie ! Beacause the dude looked at auggies face and said "whoa" and auggie did not really care about people looking at his face. Also auggie finally started to fit in with everyone else. Or auggie was just having a good day with jack will. I think auggie will be happy 50% and 50% sad beacause some people see him as a normal kid and some don't .

  33. Auggie thought it was funny because his friend thought it was funny and he didn't really now what to do so he joined his friends side and laughed only because his friend laughed and he wanted to be like him. The proven text that I found in the book Wonder was,'jack started cracking up."that guy made the funniest face"!, In this case Auggie might not of thought it was funny but Jack will started laughing first so he wanted to be like his friend. My idea about this changing the story is that he will have more of a good time with Jack will and it will cause people to open up to him more because he is friends with Jack will and whenever someone does something like that then Jack will will inspire him to join what he is doing because he doesn't have much experience with other friends and he might think Jack wont like him anymore. Jack will be sort of like Auggie's mentor because not everyone else in the entire school area or community is necessarily friends with him besides Jack will

  34. Auggie started to laugh because Jackwill started making fun about it in a different way that didn't involve his face but wetting pants. Also I think that Auggie laughed because the reaction on the 8th graders face and I also think he laughed because he was with a friend and a friend can make a weird situation better like for example Jackwill made it seem funny because he said "That guy made the funniest face!" "I know right?" I said. "He was like, whoa!" "I swear I think he sweat his pants!"
So making it funny Auggie sees it from a different perspective.

  35. Auggie used to be afraid of other kids and scared that they would make fun of him. "this huge eighth grader who was zooming down the stairs two steps at a time accidentally bumped into us at the bottom of the stair and knocked me down. As the guy helped me up he got a look at my face, and without even meaning to he said: 'Whoa!' Then patted me on the shoulder, like he was dusting me off, and took off after his friends. For some reason Jack and I started cracking up!" I think he will realize that his face is kind of funny and he will make jokes out of it.

  36. I think that August was laughing because the 8th graders face was so funny they cracked up. " 'Did you see his face? I think he wet his pants!' We were laughing so hard that when we were in Mr. Roche's class, we got separated, and we still were laughing!" I think this might change the story because Auggie is building up his courage.

  37. Auggie started laughing because when the 8th grader ran in to him we said "whoa." And he felt like his face was funny. It's not what is on the out side, it's whats on the inside. "We where laughing so hard that the teacher, Mr. Roche, had to ask us to settle down." Also he feels like Jack Will is his friend not anther one of those mean kids.

  38.  in the book when the eight grader says "whoa!" auggie and jack start cracking up. i think this could change the book because maybe auggie will start thinking his face is funny. this is the second time auggie made a joke about his face. the first time was when auggie said "hello? this is after plastic surgery." i predict also that at the end he'll have a lot of friends -Dyson

  39. In the book the eight grader said "whoa!" because he saw auggie's face then they started laughing. I think it could affect the book. It can affect the book because they thought the eight graders face was hilarious. Even though auggies face was different to.
