  1. When August woke up in the car and discussed about school that was a really effective moment. It is when August whent from mad to so happy that he wanted to go to school. that was really important. One thing agust said in that moment was when via woke up and asked who is mr tushman and August said my new principle for my knew school. That ment August was going to a school.

  2. Some small moments are effective. Because it said the nurse farted a lot its explaining what she is doing. She stringed up a whole bunch of small moments. She did that to make a good big quality story. Like one of the really good small moments are when they explained him being born.

  3. When I was born

this small moment is effective because it has everything. It has dialogue. it has action. It has thoughts. it has description. it has leads and endings too. An example from the text about action is when the nurse run out the door with auggie and the other nurse pins auggie's mom down.

  4. The chapter, Driving, was a small moment for many reasons. "it was a lamb to the slaughter." The reason this proves it was a small moment was because he uses that phrase a lot, and repetion is used a lot in small moments. "Mr. Tushman?" That is why this is a good story because it has thoughts. That is why driving is a good moment.

  5. The story about Auggie's birth is an effective small moment because it has TADDLE. The thought is when Auggie thinks about how he loves it when his mom tells him about the story of his birth. The action is when Auggie is born...

  6. I chose the part "How I came to Life". This makes an effective small moment because RJ Palacio really stretched out the small moment of August being born. WHat I mean by stretching it out is that she really described each element and used thought, action, dialogue, and description. Those elements really clue the reader in and sort of "hook" the audience to read the rest of the book. She was also funny. I can prove that because she said, "There were two nurses in the delivery room the night I was born. One was very nice and sweet. The other, Mom said did not seem at all nice or sweet She had very big arms and (here comes the funny part) she kept farting." All of that is really descriptive, she could have wrote, "There were 2 nurses."

  7. The small moment "How I came to life" is an effective small moment because it decribes how the nurses act and how he was born land. It also decribes how the mom reacted when she saw August. This paragraph is a effective small moment because it shows a lot of action. It also shows action and what happens when August was born. "Dad was in such a hurry to follow the nurse, he dropped the video cramera."

  8. The chapter "why I din't go to school" is effective because it was descriptive because it said "when his mom tried to draw a darthvader, it looked like a mushroom like robot".

  11. Wonder Page 4
In this small moment, August is worried about going to school for the first time. This is an effective small moment because R.J Palacio described everything. For example, in the text, it says "mom homeschool some. She used to be a children's-book illustrator." Auggie could have just said that she wrote books and stuff. He was very descriptive.

  12. I chose the part when she was born. It is a good small moment because it has thought action dialogue and description. It is also funny because the nurse keeps farting. "She had big arms and kept farting."

  13. One of the effective small moments is when Auggie (August) was born. That small moment was so detailed that it felt like the small moment lasted for an hour. One of the descriptive sentences were "but the farting nurse put her big arms on Mom to keep her down in the bed". It makes a effective small moment because ever sentence is descriptive. I want to read more.

  14. The small moment I pick is when Auggies mom tells him the story of how he came to life. What makes this an effective small moment is the detail. It draws you in and makes you want to read more. Since it is so interesting it makes you think it is longer than it is.

  15. The part on page three (3) is an effective small moment because it is following TADDLE. It follows the part with the lead. The author is talking about August. August is a kid that has a disorder. It is effective because the author is showing how August's life is.

  16. I think how I came to life is an affective small moment. It has a little bit of everything in the moment. August also tells how other things have happened in the past but still stays in the small moment.

  17. Daniel's comment

How I came to life and adds lots of dialogue and description. It's very descriptive when it said the doctor fainted on the floor. and also when the nurse always farted. The book gives a description about every thing beginning to end

  18. The chapter "How I came to life " is a effective small moment in the story because it is the begging of the entire story of August. It is the start of his adventures through middle school. It also describes the birth of August in vivid detail and amazing full written sentences. Using TADDLE or thought, action, dialogue, and description throughout the entire part of the book. The author writes " “But she says that when she looked down into my tiny mushed-up face for the first time, all she could see was how pretty my eyes were.” That part of the chapter is also effective because his mom looks past in image and looks for something that makes him better tham most others. This proves the judging and book by its cover is not always the correct path to take.
