Theory about Auggie
With your partner(s), develop a theory that starts off, "We think that Auggie is...because... Use at least one quote from the story to prove your theory. (R.J. Palacio's words). The response should be at least three sentences long. Write all partners names at the bottom of the post.

I think Julice doesn't like Auggie. The reason this is true is because "But I could tell from the way he looked at me, he wasn't sorry." He didn't wanted to be proven wrong, so he was mad at Auggie.

ReplyDeleteWe think that Auggie is sad because Julian is being mean to him. "What's the deal with your face? I mean were you in a fire or something?"
Julian said that quote because he was wondering what happened to Auggie. He was not trying to be mean; he was just questioning him.

ReplyDeleteWe think Auggie is self conscious because he was born with facial deformities. "'Hi,' I mumbled drooping my hand into his hand while I looked down at his feet." It shows that he is self conscious because he won't look at Mr. Tushman's face because he doesn't want Mr. Tushman to see his face (because it's deformed).
My theory is that August is nervous. R. J. Palalcio proves this: "What's the deal with your face!" I think that August is nervous because he get's bullied.

We think Auggie is alert becuase he's always observant. "While she was talking, I noticed Julian staring at me out of the corner of my eye." We think that becuase he was born with a facial deformitiy he's used to people staring at him and he's very observant because of that.

ReplyDeleteWe think Auggie is sad because Julian is saying "your dumb", "your home schooled", "not smart", Were you in a fire".
We also think Auggie is happy because Jack and Charlotte are telling Julian to stop and Jack wants to be friends with Auggie.
Don't judge a boy by his face.
"We think Auggie is self-conscious because Auggie stayed strong while Julian was mean to him. Auggie is very aware about his facial deformities, so we guess that he was expecting some form of rude questions. I can prove this because when it says, "But I could tell from the way that he looked at we that he wasn't really sorry at all," that means that Auggie is conscious about himself. He has felt with this before.

We think that Auggie is a great kid but julian is a mean boy who and right know he is bullying august about his face. Jack is a very nice boy who sticks up for august. charlotte disciplines julian for bullying august.

we think August is angry because Julian keeps being mean to him. like when Julian asked, " why is your hair so long? Julian said sounding annoyed. I didn't really know what to say so I just shrugged." from then on August was being pressured and got angry.

We think that Auggie is shy and aware of what people think of him because he has a facial deformity and that makes him feel like he's not normal. When people look at him for just a second he thinks that they are looking at how bad he looks. He is shy because people think that he is dumb just because he looks different.

We think August is kind of sad or annoyed by the way Julian acted when he 'Julian cut right in front of me, which actually made me stumble backwards, "Oops, sorry about that" said Julian. But I could tell from the way he looked at me he wasn't really sorry at all.'. So we think in general he gets picked on because of his face, which must be really depressing and hard for him.

We think that Auggie is nervous because in the book he said that "I don't want to meat any one." Also he dose not talk to much. He looks at the fool when ever some one talks to him.

We think that auggie is disabled. We know this because, " the doctor said that I had a cleft palet." Also, " if I had a magic lamp and could have 1 wish, I would wish I had a normal face that no one ever noticed at all."

We think that August is nervous because he says that he could more nervous about going to the school. Also he doesn't talk much, the book says "I didn't know what to say so I just shrugged." It says in the book that "auggie did not look at the kids much."
ReplyDeleteWe think August was kind of shy because at the beginning of the tour, the book says "I sort of hid behind mom as I walked" on page 17. And he wasn't talking much during the tour and some evidence of that is when Jack said, "But dude, you're gonna have to talk.
